Hello, my name is Clara Mayorga, a Colombian woman who has lived in Florida, USA, for more than 15 years. I want to share my experience with the implant-supported fixed prosthesis I received at Dr. Johanna Calder\u00f3n\u2019s clinic in Colombia. Initial Problems and First Failed Attempts<\/h2>\n

More than 10 years ago, I lost most of my teeth in the upper jaw. I had a fixed prosthesis placed, supported by the four remaining teeth. Over time, the bone deteriorated and the teeth supporting the prosthesis weakened, forcing me to look for a definitive solution.<\/p>\n

My first attempt was with a well-known company in Colombia, but I received poor guidance. A general dentist, without performing proper diagnostic exams, gave me a very high quote and recommended a removable denture, arguing that there was not enough bone for dental implants.<\/p>\n

Discouraged by that experience, I began researching more about the subject and, thanks to social media, I found Dr. Johanna Calder\u00f3n\u2019s clinic. The positive comments from other patients motivated me to contact her.<\/p>\n

From the very first moment, I received immediate and professional attention. Dr. Calder\u00f3n\u2019s team gave me complete education about the available options and the treatment process, standing out for their kind and honest approach.<\/p>\n

Evaluation and Treatment Planning<\/h2>\n

During my initial consultation, I received a thorough evaluation, including proper diagnostic exams. They explained the two main treatment alternatives available:<\/p>\n

HYBRID PROSTHESIS ON IMPLANTS<\/h2>\n

Conventional Implantology<\/h3>\n

Conventional implantology involved performing a sinus lift and bone regeneration due to the lack of sufficient bone. This process would be long and complicated, delaying treatment by at least 9 additional months to allow the bone to regenerate before implants could be placed.<\/p>\n

In addition, with this technique, the prosthesis could not be loaded immediately, but only 4 months after placing the implants. This meant I would have to make three visits to Colombia and go through a total process of approximately 13 months to receive my final prosthesis.<\/p>\n

Strategic Implantology<\/h3>\n

The alternative with strategic implantology was ideal for my case because I had limited bone. This technique allows implants to be placed in areas where there is enough bone, without the need for sinus lifts or extensive bone regeneration.<\/p>\n

With strategic implantology, I would only need to make two visits to Colombia. Although the cost of this type of implantology is slightly higher than conventional implantology, it is completely worth it because of the benefits in time and immediate results.<\/p>\n

For both techniques, they explained that the prostheses can be made from different materials: acrylic, metal-porcelain, or zirconia. These materials vary in price and durability. I chose strategic implantology with a zirconia prosthesis because this material offers a natural appearance, is resistant, and does not change color over time.<\/p>\n
